Austenitic and martensitic stainless steel composition is used in the design of the 440C grade. The chemical composition of the 440C Stainless Steel Sheet contains iron, chromium, carbon, manganese, silicon, and molybdenum. The sheet has exceptional corrosion and oxidation resistance because of the integrated chromium and molybdenum content. 440c stainless steel sheet adds visual appeal to a variety of uses. These sheets melt at 1483 degrees Celsius and have a density of 7.80 cm^3.
Excellent mechanical qualities are designed into the flexible grade of 440c Sheet. These sheets have a yield strength of 450 to 1900 mpa and a tensile strength of 760 to 1970 mph. At 20 degrees Celsius, they are easily extended by 13%. The bulk modulus of the UNS S44004 Sheet is 166PA, the shear modulus is 83.9GPa, and the elastic modulus is 200GPA. These sheets have a Poisson ratio of 0.27 to 0.30 and a hardness of 97 Rockwell B.

It is possible to harden SS 440C Plate by heating it to 760 degrees Celsius, raising it to 1010 degrees Celsius, and then cooling it with either air or oil.
